Welcome to the Nrityasamarpanam family.

Nrityasamarpanam Institute of Classical Dance and Therapeutic Movement, was established in early 2015, with the aim of promoting not just Indian Classical Dance, but using the movement repertoire as a whole for various therapeutic purposes.

Rumya Natraj – Founder of Nrityasamarpanam holds a double Masters degree in Clinical Psychology and Bharata Natyam respectively. She is a graded artiste in Mumbai Doordarshan and is included in the panel of artistes of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), managed by Govt. of India, New Delhi. In addition to the above degrees, Rumya also holds a Dip. In Counselling Psychology and a Dip. In Dance-Movement Therapy (DMT) from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). She has to her credit her individual researches in the application of movements from Indian Classical Dance, namely, Bharata Natyam, to children with special abilities as well as to the senior group of citizens for mental and physical betterment. Rumya has been practicing independently as a DMT practitioner since 2012 and has conducted workshops and seminars for various organizations and groups including the Paraplegic Foundation, Mumbai, differently abled children groups, senior citizens, street children, college / school students, corporate employees, etc. Currently, Rumya is keen on continuing her research using various movements from Indian Classical Dance, for the mental and physical development of children diagnosed under the Autism Spectrum.

The institute seeks to reach out to varied groups including students who have just set their first foot into the vast ocean of Indian Classical Dance as well as children with ‘special abilities’, to provide them with a platform to showcase their natural and inner talent.

Furthering this thought, Nrityasamarpanam is keen to invite applicants to participate in their Annual Classical Dance Competition – SRISHTI.
